Volkswagen already has one wagon-style vehicle on the market with their 2015 VW Golf SportWagen taking up where the Jetta SportWagen left off, so why do we need another version on the market? It would seem these practical vehicles put too much emphasis on a spacious interior in a fuel-efficient design, rather than a sporty look that turns heads. More likely, we Americans just can’t get past the old days of wood-paneling announcing to the world that we’ve got a baby on board. Either way, wagons aren’t what they used to be and we feel they make an excellent alternative to using a bulky minivan to tote the kids off to soccer practice. Earth Day is just around the corner, occurring on Wednesday April 22nd this year. For those interested Chatham Township is holding their 13th Annual Open Space Workday to help clean the city on Saturday, April 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You can also help with the Rockaway River Cleanup Saturday, April 25th at noon. For those who don’t have the time or ability to help with the cleaning festivities here in Morris County, we’ve made a list of Volkswagen’s most fuel efficient cars of 2015 to help you go green this year. Let’s get it straight. I have a high affinity for VW. I truly do. I feel they offer a level of quality in their product that far exceeds the cost of admission. There is just something about that feeling you get when you fire up the new 1.8T motor (via the pushbutton on most models) that you can’t find in their competitors, such as the Honda Civic and the Mazda3. I recommend them to family and friends whenever I get the opportunity. And even though I feel the Jetta and Passat have lost a bit of their German souls over the last few years, I can still say I’d prefer them for the long haul over their Japanese counterparts.
