Let’s get it straight. I have a high affinity for VW. I truly do. I feel they offer a level of quality in their product that far exceeds the cost of admission. There is just something about that feeling you get when you fire up the new 1.8T motor (via the pushbutton on most models) that you can’t find in their competitors, such as the Honda Civic and the Mazda3. I recommend them to family and friends whenever I get the opportunity. And even though I feel the Jetta and Passat have lost a bit of their German souls over the last few years, I can still say I’d prefer them for the long haul over their Japanese counterparts.
